Combat Graphic "45"field camera.
Civilian
version.
Made in USA. Olive drab green color. Circa 1945. Made in Rochester, NY by Folmer Graflex Corp. Rare hard to find original Combat Graphic 45 military camera from WWII era. This unique 4x5 camera made for the US military, and later sold to civilians by Graflex has an all wood rigid body without a bellows. Sport view finder on top, and small wood hand grip on the side. Focal plane shutter in the rear. 4x5 spring back with ground glass on the rear to accept slide in film holders. Takes a special dedicated original bulb type flash unit on the side that is
not included

cosmetic condition. Some marks around from use over the years on this collectible combat Graphic "45" camera. No dings or dents. fairly nice original green paint finish. Several missing parts on this camera. The shutter cocking & firing levers are missing, as well as the bottom bracket for the hand strap

on this camera, but accuracy cannot be guaranteed. Nice camera for display as it is now. Glass on the lens looks to be in good condition.

This is the 1945 Civilian version of the 1942 Combat Graphic 4x5 camera. Olive drab wooden body with no rangefinder and standard 4x5 spring back. Focal speed shutter speeds of 1/1000, 1/500, 1/250th,
1/125th, and T.
Kodak Supermatic
leaf shutter speeds of 1/400, 1/200, 1/100., 1/50, 1/25, 1/10, 1/5, 1/2, 1, plus B and T. Truly incredible viewfinder accuracy is made possible with the peep site and wire frame line.
The flash is specific , a three connectors socket system is located on the
left side of the camera and batteries are housed in the camera.
At the end of the war,
number of cameras were converted for civilian market under the name
Graphic 45 with a different nameplate. The surplus military cameras were
supposed to be destroyed but many were recovered by Burke and James signing over their brand and painting them in black. They were sold down to the 60s by Burke & James.
The life of this unit within the U.S. Army had extended until the Vietnam war.
