    Description

Extremely Rare, dating between the Franco-Prussian War and WW1, complete Bavarian Enlisted Man’s Brass Belt & M1847-M1895 Buckle with original & flexible brown belt that the surface was dyed black to conform with mid-war regulations. The leather is complete and in remarkable shape for an item in excess of 100 years old. If this belt could speak it would have an incredible story to tell. The unit marked belt measures 39” long and is adjustable to a maximum of 36”. The buckle is NOT DENTED on the crown which is uncommon for an item of this age. The German Empire was composed of four Kingdoms, Prussia, Bavaria, Wurttemberg & Saxony with Grand Duchies, Duchies, Principalities & Free & Imperial Cities. This belt is a pre-war example from the Kingdom of Bavaria which was the second largest Kingdom in the Empire.
I currently have a similar belt and buckle listed was NOT dyed black to meet mid war regulations, listed separately.
