Description
It does NOT GET BETTER THAN THIS! Imperial German Prussian enlisted man's belt & ( M1895 ) buckle is from before the Great War. The belt is as near to mint as you can expect for an item well over 100 years old. The belt is brown and was not dyed black when regulations changed mid-war to eliminate anything reflective. The belt measures 38" and is stamped 98 ( pictured). Brass Belt Buckles from this period commonly have some type of denting. This example has NO denting. The buckle is unit marked 26A. 5B. My research leads me to believe this unit was from the XXVI Reserve Corps, 9th Division, Field Artillery Regiment Nr.5. The patina on the brass is great. The German Empire was made up of four Kingdoms, Prussia, Bavaria, Saxony and Wurtemberg along with several Grand Duchies, Duchies and Principalities. They all contributed to the German war effort and the larger ones had some distinctive uniforms. Prussia was the largest Kingdom and this buckle carries the Prussian Crown with the motto "GOTT MIT UNS" or GOD'S WITH US". 2014 marked the 100th anniversary of the Great War. Collectibles from this period in any condition are becoming more difficult to find. Certainly items from this period will appreciate as time marches on.See my other listings for an assortment of Great War items.
