    Description

Imperial German, RARE Prussian Cavalry Officer’s Brocade Dress Belt & Buckle from the largest Kingdom in the German Empire. The belt measures 45” long overall with a makers mark on the interior leather strap. Brocade Belts were worn only on ceremonial occasions and are quite rare. There is a slight issue on the interior liner of the belt ( see photo’s) the black facing has not aged well. There were 4 Cavalry Corps in the Imperial Army at the start of the Great War. As the war bogged down into trench warfare shortly after the beginning of hostilities the demand for Cavalry, Dragoon’s, & Hussars was slight making their units use quite rare. The German Empire was composed of four Kingdoms, Prussia, Bavaria, Wurttemberg & Saxony in that order. This belt is a pre-war example from the Kingdom of Prussia. Multiple purchases can be combined for postage savings.
I currently have a Dragoon Officer’s Brocade Belt listed separately along with a variety of Brocade Belts from other Kingdoms and Duchy’s in the Empire.
