Description
This enlisted man's date ( 1914 ) & maker marked ( Sattler-Inn? )belt & Brass ( M1895 ) Buckle dates from before the start of the Great War. The Belt is Brown and shows evidence of having been dyed black to conform with mid-war regulations. The belt shows no evidence of field repairs and measures a bit over 34". There are some brass studs/buttons on the belt, these are not from any known uniform at the time so this decoration does not qualify this as a souvenir or hate belt. Belt Buckles from this period commonly have some type of denting, this example is Slightly Dented on the Crown. It is uncommon to find an Early-WW 1 Brown Belt & Buckle in this condition. The German Empire was made up of four Kingdoms, Prussia, Bavaria, Saxony and Wurttemberg along with several Grand Duchies, Duchies and Principalities. They all contributed to the German war effort and the larger ones had some distinctive uniforms. Prussia was the largest Kingdom and this buckle carries the Prussian Crown with the motto "GOTT MIT UNS" or "GOD'S WITH US".Multiple purchases can be combined for postal savings.
