    Description

This enlisted man's ( M1895 ) Brass belt buckle is from before the Great War. Belt Buckles from this period commonly have some type of denting which this buckle does not have. What is unusual about this buckle is reverse prongs to attach to the belt have been field repaired as this buckle did not leave the factory looking as it does now. The patina on the brass is great. In any case this buckle is in great condition. 2014 marked the 100th anniversary of the start of the Great War. The German Empire was made up of four Kingdoms, Prussia, Bavaria, Saxony and Wurtemberg along with several Grand Duchies, Duchies and Principalities. They all contributed to the German war effort and the larger ones had some distinctive uniforms. Prussia was the largest Kingdom and this buckle carries the Prussian Crown with the motto "GOTT MIT UNS" or GOD'S WITH US". Collectibles from this period in any condition are becoming more difficult to find. Certainly items from this period will appreciate as time marches on. Multiple purchases can be combined for postage savings.
