    Description:
    A nice very fine banknote issued by the Bank of Tanzania on the eastern coast of Africa. This is the no date 100 Shilling banknote known to have been issued in 1966. The banknote is red on multicolored under-print on the front. The front also has the name of the bank, the denomination, serial number, and two signatures. The banknote displays only the denomination and the name of the bank on the back. The front also depicts the bust of Julius Nyerere, the first president of the liberated Tanzania, to the right. The front also has the arms of the country in the center and a wreath made of coffee plant to the left where a watermark can be found. The back has the same color scheme as the back and depicts jungle animals including a lion and a tiger sitting on tree branches and giraffes in the plain. Both the front and back are written in English and Swahili, the two official languages of the country at the time. This particular note has the serial number R911341, which is displayed on the front twice in black, but is not displayed on the back. The note has a watermark depicting the head of a giraffe in the circle to the left of the front. The note also has a security thread to the right of center.
